ASU QB Taylor Kelly to visit Cardinals

GLENDALE, Ariz. – All 32 NFL teams were represented at Arizona State’s Pro Day on Friday. Among the participants were quarterback Taylor Kelly, wide receiver Jaelen Strong, offensive lineman Jamil Douglas, tight end De’Marieya Nelson and safety Damarious Randall.

All-in-all, 21 players took part in the weight room and field testing.

Representatives from the Arizona Cardinals were there and they liked what they saw from a few of the Sun Devils. They liked it enough to invite a few players out to their Tempe facility so they could get a closer look.

Kelly was a three-year starter with the Sun Devils. He ranks third all-time in total touchdown passes by a Sun Devil quarterback [79] and fourth in total passing yards [8,819]. Kelly is Arizona State’s all-time leader in offensive yards in a career [10,223].

Douglas started all 13 games at left tackle for the Sun Devils in his senior season. Douglas started 40 straight games for Arizona State in his career. He was a preseason candidate for the Lombardi Trophy, which is given to the nation’s most outstanding down lineman or linebacker. He was also a candidate for the Outland Trophy, which is given to the nation’s most outstanding interior lineman.

Head coach Todd Graham referred to Nelson quite a bit as one of the most athletic players on the Sun Devil roster. Nelson made the Mackey Award watch list, which recognizes the most outstanding tight end in college football. He split time at tight end and at the Devil-backer position last season.

In other Cardinals news, according to Fox Sports 910’s Mike Jurecki, the team will not tender contracts to their two restricted free agents, quarterback Ryan Lindley and defensive tackle Alameda Ta’amu.

Arizona brought Lindley on-board on November 11, right after they placed quarterback Carson Palmer on injured reserve. Lindley took over for Drew Stanton in the Thursday night game in St. Louis, Mo., against the Rams. He’d wind up starting the final two games of the regular season and the Wild Card playoff game against the Carolina Panthers.

Ta’amu was used more for depth purposes on the defensive line. He played in seven games and assisted on one tackle.
