Cardinals bring back Ryan Lindley
TEMPE, Ariz. – Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians said the team would explore bringing in a third quarterback in the wake of losing Carson Palmer for the season with a torn ACL.
Well, they’re bringing back a familiar face in Ryan Lindley.
Lindley – a former sixth-round pick of the Cardinals in the 2012 NFL Draft – rejoins the team after spending time on the San Diego Chargers practice squad. Lindley spent two years with the Cardinals before he was cut on August 25. Lindley joined the Chargers practice squad on August 31.
Lindley played in six games [four starts] in his rookie season and was slotted as the Cardinals No. 3 quarterback last season behind Palmer and Drew Stanton.
In those six games, Lindley completed 89-of-171 passes for 752 yards, zero touchdowns and seven interceptions. He was sacked 12 times. Lindley rushed four times for seven yards.
Lindley will wear his familiar No. 14.
