Cardinals sign 1st round pick Robert Nkemdiche
And with the 29th pick in the first round, the Arizona Cardinals select two-time All-SEC defensive lineman Robert Nkemdiche.
With that pick, the Cardinals not only got the pass rusher they coveted but they have one for at least the next four years, as the Cardinals signed him to a four-year deal.
At times, Nkemdiche was known to take plays off, but that did not scare the Cardinals off. Mind you, the Cardinals drafted Tyrann Mathieu with a third round pick after he had been kicked off LSU for marijuana issues and this off-season they traded for defensive lineman Chandler Jones even though he reportedly used synthetic marijuana while with the New England Patriots.
The Cardinals could not be a better place for Nkemdiche as they have shown the proper leadership from veteran players, coaching and upper management to have the perfect atmosphere for players in need of a second chance or to prove that past mistakes were just a lapse in judgement.
The Cardinals also signed two of their other picks safety Marqui Christian and offensive lineman Cole Toner. This gives them more depth at both positions.
