Here We go Again Boxing!
According to Bob Arum, Floyd Mayweather is too afraid of the strong right hand of Manny Pacquiao to fight him. In an article on ESPN, Arum also states how Mayweather knows boxing and knows he can’t beat Pacquiao. I’ve been the first person to call out Mayweather and his ability to dodge as many questions about why he won’t fight Pacquiao. He has talked about drug testing and how he’s the face of boxing and wants the sport to remain clean, along with a laundry list of reasons this fight hasn’t happened. I say hogwash to all that and so should Manny Pacquiao, but bob Arum should be quiet.
Arum is concerned about one thing and that’s putting more money in his pockets. He doesn’t care about the legacy of either boxer unless he’s getting a piece of the pie. Don’t believe for a second that if Pacquiao and Arum had a falling out and he could promote Mayweather and make the same money that he wouldn’t jump ship faster than you could read this article. Remember Bob Arum is credited with saying “Yesterday I was lying, today I am telling the truth”, and that’s who we should believe?
I believe both fighters are looking for the perfect situation to make this fight happen, with Mayweather looking for it to slant more his way. Any fight other than these two fighting each other next is just a money grab for them. There is no one currently in their weight class that could beat either of them. And since Amir Khan will not fight Pacquiao and Mayweather will not fight Khan, it’s time. Not because Bob Arum makes underhanded comments and calls Mayweather a chicken in so many words, but simply because this fight is supposed to happen.
