Mercury go for win number 3
The Phoenix Mercury take on the Atlanta Dream today in a battle of 2 – 2 teams.
The Mercury started the season by losing their first two games in the bubble but have won their last two by simply playing tougher on defense and gaining cohesiveness on offense.
“We have to play harder and stronger,” Mercury head coach Sandy Brondello said after their second loss of the season and they have done that.
In their first game, the Mercury were pounded in the third quarter 30 – 8 by the LA Sparks and came out soft in the third quarter against the Indiana Fever. However against the New York Liberty, the Mercury took the Liberty’s punch but rebounded with a fantastic fourth quarter.
Tonight, the Atlanta Dream are in the same position as the Mercury. Both teams need a win to get on the right side of the 500% mark.
The Mercury seems to have found a formula that is working. Diana Taurasi takes control to start the game, Skylar Diggins-Smith and Britney Griner find their spots and Bria Hartley hits everything she shoots.
But with all that said, defense will set the tone. They have to play hard for all 4 quarters.
