Wyoming’s Maldonado Named Mountain West Player of the Week
Wyoming senior guard Hunter Maldonado has been named the Mountain West Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.
The Vista Ridge alum had a strong showing at the Diamond Head Classic last week, averaging 19 points, 5.7 rebounds and eight assists per game with a 55.0 field goal percentage.
Maldonado scored 18 points with eight assists and five rebounds in a 66-63 loss to Stanford. He led the Cowboys in scoring with 17 points with seven rebounds and six assists in a 7-69 win against Northern Iowa. He registered a double-double with 22 points and 10 assists, which ties a career high, in a 77-57 rout against South Florida.
Maldonado is averaging a career high 17.3 points per game and team leading 5.9 assists per game in his fifth season with the Cowboys. He’s averaging 12.2 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.5 assists in 107 career games.
